Mark Steines

I can't figure this guy out. In a five minute span he goes from looking like he enjoys his job to being the most cocky, annoying douchebag around. Okay, maybe he spends 30 seconds looking like he enjoys his job and the rest he seems to be actively trying to bash everyone else. He interrupts constantly and is the king know it all. So, does he appreciate what he has (he's working when tons are not) or does he just want to complain? He needs to tone it down and enjoy what he has.

I agree. He's very arrogant acting. It's funny when the camera catches him off guard and he has that cocky/bored/I'm too good for all of you look. He's annoying, but so is the show. I feel bad for the people who have to work with him and his ego every day.

reply

Lol, I thought it was just me. He looks and acts like this job is beneath him.

I, like you find him puzzling. You described it perfectly. I go back and forth not really sure what to think of him. I can say that the constant interrupting drives me crazy! So rude. I don't know how the other people keep their train of thought. I would snap on him if I had to deal with it.

Mark seems SO disengaged. Although he tries hard to look smart, deep, thoughtful and interested while asking questions...he VERY RARELY LISTENS to ANY answer or reply and frequently asks follow up questions about something his guest has JUST mentioned or explained. This makes the majority of interview conversations look and sound extremely awkward as the poor guests creatively scramble to immediately recommunicate the exact same information. Often I will see what looks to me like a massive FAKE smile plaster onto his face as soon as he catches the camera panning over in his direction. It gives me the heebeejeebees.

Pretty nice PR blast this network put out for a departing host considering the news that is about to hit and that they know is about to hit. I would have made it much less positive sounding. Mark Steines (Hallmark Channel’s "Home & Family")

Mark Steines sues: Hallmark Channel fired me for backing female staffers' sex harassment complaints

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/claudiarosenbaum/mark-steines-hallmark-channel-lawsuit

Steines, who was blindsided by his abrupt firing from Home & Family in May, is suing Hallmark Channel's parent company Crown Media, alleging he faced retaliation after reporting and relaying alleged sexual harassment, gender discrimination and verbal abuse against executive producer Woody Fraser. Steines, who had co-hosted the daily lifestyle show since 2012, says in lawsuit he personally witnessed Fraser engage in sexual harassment and abusive behavior. He alleges that things got worse for him in 2017 after he agreed to cooperate with attorney Lisa Bloom, who was representing two female staffers who accused Fraser of sexual harassment. Fraser, an 83-year-old daytime veteran who was an early mentor to Roger Ailes, called the allegations at the time “an attempt to label me the next ‘Roger Ailes.'” Steines' lawsuit alleges that management failed to take action. Bloom, who is now representing Steines, says "everything changed, with the network taking away his voiceover work, diminishing his role on the network, reducing his profile at industry events, cutting his salary by 25%, and ultimately firing him months before the end of his contract." Asked to respond, Crown Media said it had not seen the lawsuit, but that the decision to let Steines go was "a measured, strategic and difficult decision" due to the show's ratings decline.
