A Better Idea For A Show Would Have Been...

...have somebody like renowned collector Mark Bellomo - who also has the tendency to be a douche (look up his videos on YouTube & read the message board to see how he handles criticism) - but at least he seems to value the toys over their monetary value.
Have him travel the country & meet with collectors & view their collections. The collectors could gush about their favourite toys, swap stories on how they got them, etc... this would permit a lot of us a glimpse into the appeal of toys we might have previously dismissed, and also get to share in the adulation & joy of other collectors all over the world. Every episode could end with info on how to submit yourself or a friend / loved one for consideration on a future episode.
A format like this or similar to this would have stressed the joy that collecting toys affords us, instead of the cash grab mentality that Toy Hunter revels in ("You, too, can be a millionare by bilking unwitting collectors! Here's how!").
What is your thoughts for an alternate show....?

As well as the host, the collectors themselves are pretty cring worthy to watch at times. A bunch of random collectors rattling off on their favorite collectibles IMO would be a bit creepy to watch. But I too dislike the turn 'em and burn 'em mentality of the show and would also much prefer to see things from the collectors perspective. An idea I had was to have a likable not creepy at all acting dealer and a collector with social skills go off on a vintage toy run. A pairing similiar to the Doctor and his companion.. if you're familiar with Doctor Who... Say the whole point of the toy run is to hit flea markets, consignment shops, hobby shops, comic book stores, etc. to amass the original 21 of the vintage Star Wars line. The pair wheel and deal and TRADE to complete their collection. During the run the dealer can share info about the toyline. While sorting through figures he could go into the history of 3 3/4 action figures. Go into detail of the importance of item condition. And maybe even delve into repro/reproduction weapons and accessories.
But honestly anything would be better than the current American Pickers rip off with toys hosted by the love child of Richard Simmons.

LOVE your idea far better. And you get mad props for the name drops to MM III, Dr. Who, and of course - the kitbash prototype to the SW line extension that never was. Huzzah, my friend!
