'You know how much I can get for this?'

That's a quote Jordan uses in the Toy Hunter intro. It annoys me to death whenever I hear him ask that question. If he and I had a conversation, it would go something like this......

[Jordan lusting over one of my 'rare' collectibles]

Jordan: "You know how much I can get for this?"

Me: "Hey, wait a minute! I'm the one who should ask that question since I'm the seller, not you. You're just a potential buyer. I want $500."

Jordan: "Yeah, but after I buy it from you I'm gonna resell it. How about $250?"

Me: "You're a reseller? Sorry, but I don't sell my collectibles to resellers or so-called 'pickers'. THIS ISN'T A YARD SALE. I only sell collectibles like this to the serious collector who will pay the price I'm asking for and not swindle me for half the asking price. I'm willing to negotiate down to $450, and that's the extreme minimum. Take it or leave it."

Jordan: "Man, I can't make a profit on that."

Me: "So you are only interested in making a profit, is that it? Well, unfortunately we don't have a deal. Now please leave. I'm not selling anything to you. Get out!"

This conversation would also apply if the guys from American Pickers came over.

No Resellers or Pickers Allowed

I hear what you're saying. If I had a convo' with Jordan, it would probably go the same way. But by the end of the day, If I'm trying to sell something, I could care less what they do with it once it becomes theirs. Disagreement on a price for me is the only thing that can break a deal. I recently sold a MOC lot of vintage ROTJ figures to a guy who gave them to his son to open and play with. whatever you know. I wanted x amount of dollars. I got it. End of story.

"You're a reseller??" You would really need to ask that?

That's his job bro, if you want to seek out the true die-hard collectors, knock yourself out.

You're better off doing so. Jordan in symptomatic of a new breed of dealers that drastically underpay by exploiting other people's needs. I know a dealrr who recently bragged to me that he bought $700 worth of GI Joes for $60. There's no excuse for that. Jordan might spout that the "norm" is 40 % of perceived current value, but you'd never get that much from him. It might take more time to seek out buyers on eBay or what have you, but believe me, you're better off. Jordan is a con artist, and he's brazen enough to flaunt this act on TV, albeit a little seen show.

I DON'T BELIEVE IN CASUAL SEX. I ALWAYS WEAR A TIE.

Thanks for posting this witless, interminable drama club script, when you could have just written: "I would only sell for retail prices."

Which is exactly what Jordan does. So you and he are actually no different.

I really love all the "holier than thou!" posts on this board by professional collectors. Collectors who, if given a chance to buy something for a bargain from an amateur, and then resell it to another collector for a profit, would do exactly that. In a heartbeat.

Then they come here and whinge about Jordan Hembrough doing precisely the same thing.

I think I understand people as competitive as Jordan. They have no friends, and have to go from convention to convention taking cosplay photos of themselves or others because they alienate all their friends and customers.
