The meaning of the post-credit sequence

I refuse to believe it was just fluff, because that doesn't suit the theme of the film. At the same time I didn't want to read into it too much and say something like it was proof that Alex was possessed before even getting to the asylum.

What I do believe though is that it's proof of the lying manipulative person that Alex is. He ignored her feelings for months but he's clearly a clever guy, and even though his friends are constantly reminding him he still plays dumb.

Yet that all changes when he realises he needs her and can use her. He starts returning the feelings as soon as he needs a crew to go filming with him. He uses her love for him to manipulate her into being a camerawoman.

It's possible that even when he's telling her he'll protect her, that he was only just saying that because he was irritated at how weak she was being but he needed someone to come with him to film.

Alex is a terrible person, the asylum didn't cause that, it just drew it out. That is the theme of the film, about how the madmen are inside of us to begin with, right?

I wanted to know what other people thought about this theory?
