Just saw it (some spoilers)

SPOILERS beyond here:

I just watched it too, I didn't love it or hate it..

I feel that a lot of the changes they made were not improvements. Both character-wise as well as aesthetically.

The main problem the film has is trying to do too much in such a short space of time, so I think the project was cursed from the outset, as soon as someone had the idea of trying to cram the entire sanctuary arc into one movie.

While they didn't do a bad job of getting many of the pivotal scenes into the movie, the lost out on fleshing out the whole basis, and motivations of the characters, which I think is even more important than some of those scenes.

Ok, they explained what "saints" are and how they have powers.. but they didn't explain Cloths at all (by the way, it's cloths, not cross.. it's just the japanese pronunciation of that word that makes it sound like 'cross')

Speaking of cloths, there are some things I liked about the changes, and others I didn't.. I liked some of the designs, they looked genuinely good, but I hated all the mechanical parts. I didn't feel that all the saints needed their helmets to be closed up.. This is too Transformers/power rangers.. Although, I felt it did suit it for aldebaran Taurus. His facemask cover did actually look cool.
I hated Mu's look, those glasses just look ridiculous, and I hated his hair too.
What was with Seiya's gauntlet turning into a giant Megaman arm? and then someone commented that it meant that Seiya finally awakened the 7th sense.. didn't like that.

What I liked most about this movie as simply the quality of the animation and renders. How cool does Mu's crystal wall look.. and the sections where sanctuary is being demolished are some of the best looking CGI scenes I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot)


I wish they split this movie into 2 or 3 parts. It really would have had better pacing if they did this, and at least this way they could fit in some better exposition. I mean the 5 bronze saints basically have no real personality at all.. The film changed the characters to an extent that viewers cannot relate them to the originals, which therefore makes viewers feel like they don't know anything about them.

-I understand they had to tone Deathmask down and the whole "I hang people's heads in my wall" thing so that kids could watch this with their parents without parents bitching about it but I think they went overboard with it.

-Milo being a woman now is just weird. She looks like Seiya's sister, Marin.

-Aphrodite, one of the strongest gold saints and one of my favorites, 5 seconds of screentime, one phrase and then death.
Unforgivable.
