What I found wrong with the show

Yes this is IMDB, where come to biyatch and moan, not say how much they loved the show

Here is what I did not like

1. Hosted by Adam & Jamie - ok they come out in the beginning and do a small scene with the contestants, then remotely view their progress on a laptop most of the hour, then show up at the end to do a scripted judgement.

While this is a clear deviation from what I'm use to seeing on Mythbusters, it is nice to see the network trust them to do another show. What I didn't like was me watching them pretend to watch footage they'd already seen on a laptop that probably wasn't even turned on.

If you are going to host the show, friggin' host it and not do those lame scense while having some 3rd party do the actual hosting.

2. Typical "reality" show technique that Discovery shows (of which Mythbusters is the main offender) of using the same 10 seconds of footage to take up 3 minutes of air time. I don't need to see something multiple times, I don't need to see a preview before the commercial break and I don't need a recap of what happened before the commercial break.

3. Somewhat the same as #2, nothing in the end scene surprised me. I'd seen all of the parts work on their own so when it all happened I was just like "Oh, ok."

4. The 3 judges walking off scene to make the judgement when there was clearly a winner that everyone in the room could see

5. No Kari, Tori, or Grant

I did not expect much of the show so I only caught episode on a re-run. Nothing substantial that caught my eye. Show annoys me already since they keep bleeping out profanity. WHY DOES THERE ALWAYS HAVE TO BE PROFANITY ON DISCOVERY NETWORK? Another gripe that I have is that unlike Junkyard Dogs there are technically no experts here. Just a bunch of people trying to smash things into a pile of rubble. Been there, seen that.

What would have been interesting to watch... is Jamie team vs Adam team... each trying to outdo each other. But back to the show.

I am not going to lie... as a huge fan of mythbusters I have decided to sit through 2nd half of episode 1 and see what the show is all about. The ruth golberg machine for both teams was interesting to watch but camera work was iffy. Not because camera was bad but because things were scattered all over the place. There was no left to right or right to left transition that you could follow. There was stuff hanging or swinging or bouncing or whatever else took place. In most cases it was very difficult trying to figure out what the next logical step was. 6 other things were happening at the same time obscuring each step of the way. Even hosts noted that. The other team did very well but everything kind of got ruined when some guy had to yell some korny comment while swinging.

My suggestion would be to obviously improve camera work so you can enjoy the mechanism from start to finish. Another thing is to stop showing or panning back to people while mechanism is playing out. Finally there should be guidelines set fourth by the M5 industries which requires teams to adhere to "in line" parts that each have a beginning and an end.

It was ok, but obviously not all processes worked the first time. You could tell there was some creative editing as these reactions will simply not be allowed to fail. You could tell a swinging weight was not going to hit its mark, so a close-up of it striking it's target was obviously edited in.

I expected more of the Mythbusters duo. It's not a bad concept, but ultimately it was not all that interesting IMO. I'd rather they rekindle Junkyard Wars with Adam and Jamie as hosts. At the end of the episode, I was not really looking forward tot he next.

I had high hopes for the show, as a big Mythbusters fan. But it just couldn't keep my interest. I agree with Yarik83 about the camera work. The way film the final run through, it's too hard to follow with all the cuts they do. I would recommend them do it like the OK GO music video. That was a huge mechanism and having the camera follow it as it plays out, uncut, had a beautiful result. It's an insult to the teams working on their machines to not let us see each and every reaction exactly as it plays out.

OP, speak for yourself!

Don't generalize as to what IMDb users type about.
