How Can Chucky Not Believe In God...

...when his freaking soul, courtesy of Voodoo, has been trapped in a plastic doll for 25 years? I thought Voodoo was derived from African slaves brought to Haiti, who had been Christianized by missionaries. If Voodoo exists, then doesn't God (???).

I had same thoughts

Except said chant specifically invokes the god Damballah and there is no evidence that any of the rest of you said is true. If Chucky could transfer himself at will he would not need the chant or be bound by its limitations any more.

hey may have been just trying to mess with Alice's head by telling her God doesn't exist. I mean, this is Chucky we're talking about.

Yes, Voodoo is very much what you mentioned. West African slaves mixed their believes in Haiti with Catholicism. Voodoo believes in God and these spirits called the Loa, who are pretty much the Catholic saints with different names. For example, the gatekeeper between the spirit world and the real world is Papa Alegba, who is basically Saint Peter.

What Chucky does, however, couldn't technically be classified as voodoo (even though the movies make that assumption). Voodoo is really just a religion and voodoo "spells" are really just prayers with "props." What Chucky does would be more accurately labeled hoodoo, which is folk magic that incorporates West African, Catholic and American Indian folk beliefs.

You could practice hoodoo without believing in God, but if you don't believe in God than you are not practicing voodoo.

I suppose it depends on which of all the fictional Gods he was referring to. He was saying the God they believe in does not exist. It doesn't mean he was referring to the god he believes in.

He's an immoral psychopath, and probably scoffs at the idea of God. It's like Jigsaw from Punsiher: War Zone scoffing at the woman who said she swore to God, "And how about you, sweet cheeks? Are you going to swear on an imaginary friend?"

I think he was just trying to torment the little girl who hoped she'd be reunited in Heaven with her grandma someday. He told her it wouldn't happen just to hurt her and crush her hopes.

He's psychotic. Most likely in denial.
If he's able to practice voodoo witchcraft & succeed, then he has proof of the supernatural. Maybe not the "Judeo-Christian-Mulsim" version of God, but definitely proof of the existence of "gods".
