So at the end....

Was it Gavin that was killing all of those people at the end? And wouldnt Kate know his secret? Im sure she wouldnt allow him to run around the country side killing innocent people like that. Unless Talan actually did survive and Gavin was trying to track him down. I dont really understand where the film was going with the ending.

I think that Gavin was the one killing those people. Aside from the fact that he very likely did kill Talan, several things point to Gavin. Primarily, there's the fact that the current werewolf seems much more in control than Talan was in terms of visibility. Talan's werewolf went from one killing during a full moon to out of control and killing anyone at anytime to survive. The killings at the end seem calculated, constant (planned) and serruptitious enough that no one has seen anything more than a hairy boogeyman in the shadows. Talan was vicious but simple enough to be found/caught on multiple occasions. This werewolf has yet to be anywhere near capture, likely because it is Gavin who is far more clever. He knows enough to stay clean shaven in the daylight and stay out of sight enough as a werewolf to keep people focused on Talan. Another thing to consider is the hunting ground. Talan always went back to the family land/caves. This time around the killings are happening on the borders of Luxembourg and in the mountains. Again, very different than before. And I know a case could be made for Talan's body never being recovered but if Gavin could figure a way into appearing as a harmless victim in the moment, it stands to reason that he could have done away with the body to provide himself a future cover.

Now as far as Kate not allowing the killing, there's two possibilities: either she isn't recovered enough to be that aware and/or do anything about what Gavin is doing, or she's fallen into that whole being in love with a monster thing. Either way, I'm not sure she could stop him even if she wanted to.

It is pronounced "EGREGIOUS"

In my opinion i dont think it was Gavin. At the end a woman who was interviewed mentioned how it was a long haired hairy beast. Gavin only had short hair. I'm not sure whether it grew when he turns but it didnt seem to when he shaved all his hair off and he turned so yes i do think Talan was still alive. However i could be wrong. I think the ending is meant to keep you guessin and to form your own view of how things end.

I kind of think Talan survived, Gavin was a werewolf and Kate ended up a werewolf, too, which is how she survived her wound.

Since Gavin and Kate are now both werewolves, they watch out for each other, make sure to lock each other up during full moons, etc. Just like Talan was under some sort of control when his mom and dad were watching out for him.

However, Talan, now completely without family, operates without any restraint whatsoever in his killings, and ranges far and wide because he doesn't have a home anymore.

Overall, I think Wer just missed being solidly above average. It kind of went off the rails in the third act and became just another monster posing while snarling at the camera movie (at some point the whole standing there breathing heavy and hulking for the camera has become uber-cliche). I think the movie could have also used a bit more restraint on the gore and left it implied. It ended up just creating disgust and not horror in parts.

Still, an average horror movie is better than most of what is available. It was worth the watch.
