The Wedding

I was a little bit disappointed by the wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and all, but where were their families and friends??? Why make an official public commitment if you're not going to have it witnessed by the people you care about? Especially for a wedding that is meant to also be about their love for their community etc, it's a bit odd that almost noone was there. Well, apart from Kamala's pod that she imposed on them.

lol I thought the same thing, that was so odd -.-

Aim high, question everything, believe no one :)

They didn't really want anyone there at the wedding, they just wanted it to the three of them. But then kamala asked if her pod could join and see the ceremony hopping their love would rub off on Jen an tahl.

Yes but that's the weird thing. Why wouldn't they want anyone else to be there? They went on and on about how important it was that their relationship was made public, official and visible, and that they're also doing it for the community, as an extension of their love for them and society etc. Since the wedding isn't actually legal, the only way for it to be public and visible would be to let people know about it and witness it. They had lovers present when they got engaged (even had an orgy with them!) but they won't invite their parents, friends and lovers to the wedding? Makes no sense.

Well, you have to remember that even though THEY might be okay with a poly relationship, their families are likely not.

Remember that we, as a society, are taught monogamy. One man and one woman (thanks to religious convention). We're only now seeing the beginnings of change in that narrow viewpoint, with gay couples being accepted, and gay marriage being allowed in a few states. Add to it the fact that bigamy and polygamy are illegal across the United States, and it will be some time before we will see any serious acceptance of poly relationships, and even longer before an actual poly marriage will be legal.

Seemed like Vanessa really forced them into it by proposing in front of a crowd. That always seems like a manipulative move to me when people propose in front of a crowd, as it puts the pressure on the person (or persons in this case) being proposed to to not humiliate the person doing the proposal in front of the crowd. She should have proposed to them in private and then had everyone come to the actual ceremony if they had agreed. Then she springs the tattoo demand on them. Her demand for a commitment in this manner seemed like a real power play in reaction to Lyndsey's feelings for her boyfriend that Vanessa forced her to "take a break from."

He said he did not want a commitment... Then agreed in front of everyone. I don't believe he wanted to.
