Dubbing of young Elise was STUPID

Watching it now, wondering why I'm watching an English Language movie that has a dubbed over voice. It's blarringly obvious.

reply

Totally. Watching it for the first time, I kept saying to myself "that voice doesn't match her face".

reply

didn't notice.

reply

Terrible idea and completely unecessary. How stupid do makers of the movie think we are? Did they really think we would all "HURR THE VOICE CHANGED MAKES NO SENSE DURR" if they used the girl's actual voice? Seriously.

reply

AGreed - it felt like some American redubbing of an Italian horror film - such a stupid choice!

reply

*glaringly.

reply

So obvious. But I got used to it. There was nothing else to do. I had to deal with it.

reply

Really? I thought it was a great choice. I was actually thinking it was just an actress who impersonated Elise's voice.

I wish Philip K. Dick had written Lord of Light

reply

I agree, she has a distinctive voice and I thought it was a nice touch.

reply

Unintentional comedy.

reply

It was a bit strange. I wondered why they didn't dub young Lorraine's voice as well. But on the other hand, it allowed Lin Shaye to have a bigger part in the film and she is one of my favorite actresses so I didn't mind it that much.
