As for your “friend “never lying to you… well there is one born every minute. Simply ask him to explain the term "Taquia”. Do your own reading and research about Islam and if you are honest you will understand that what I am writing is true. The Quran mentions lying as permissible if it's used to smooth things over between two people (like a husband and a wife, two friends, etc), or to prevent two people from fighting. The Quran also mentions, it's permissible to lie if it saves your life under dire circumstances. BUT there is nothing in the quran, which tells you lying IS the way of life, or you MUST lie to get by blah blah. It's up to an individuals own qualms and interpretation, and how they use this information and what their own conscience let's slide as a lie.
Don't twist things and lie to YOURSELF either, get some information before talking trash about religions. Not ALL muslims want to dominate the world, and kill masses of people....come on man, life is plenty complex and *beep* without people wigging out about someone's religion.

History-shmistry, I don't think you were present thousands of years ago, or can lay a claim on what religion is real or not. Unreal as opposed to what other REAL religions? Christianity, Hinduism, Budhism, Mormonism,Scientology, etc.

So anyone who comes from an Islamic background and identifies with the culture they were raised in is part of this big conspiracy of almost a billion people from all walks of life? Yes, I am critical of Islamic extremism, but some people's attitudes are like the hysterical anti-Catholicism directed against Irish and other groups in the US in the 1800s.
It's just a xenophobic assumption that the worst elements of a religion apply to the rank and file members, ordinary clergy who serve them or even loosely affiliated people like the delightfully funny, honest and vulnerable Iranian American woman in the movie. Then what are they up to?
That's an army. Where are all the attacks? These 40,000 must be very lazy. The 9-11 terrorists were not American or permanent immigrants, and there has been far less Islamic terrorism than random violence by attention seeking gun nuts who had no beliefs or ideology on the following years. You are more likely to die falling down the stairs in your own home than be killed by terrorists.

I wish so much that this could have a wider audience. I caught it on HULU last night and was amazed. The comedians were very likable, and I think a couple of them are very talented and could become first rate performers if given the chance. That Iranian American lady, whose name I must look up and remember, should have a sitcom or a talk show.
The trip across America was interesting. Some of the small towns were very charming and the people, even if they had reservations about Muslims were generally friendly and willing to listen.
Seeing real people interact on a human level showed the stupidity and pathetic paranoia of the "don't sacrifice my Thanksgiving turkey to Allah!"crowd. A lot of food products that can be certified Kosher are because the people who make them don't want to exclude potential customers. It's the same with Halal.
The Shariah "imposition" myth probably comes from the fact that a few Muslims in the West use religious mediators in civil matters among themselves, just as some of the more religious Jews do. So what? Mediation is an increasingly popular option that keeps people out of expensive lawsuits in overbearing courts.
As to the "deep penetration" by the Muslim Brotherhood feared by Michelle Bachmann, I leave the issue to the psychoanalysts. :)

You talk about History? The history of many religions and cultures is vast and filled with uncivilized behaviour and bloodshed. Go and try reading other religious texts and see if there isn't mention of blood spilled in the name of religion, or religious texts being misinterpreted in any way in any other culture. If you've indeed READ the Quran and History you would not be be just harping about common assumptions which exist everywhere about this religion.

It is not an opinion... it is a fact that Islam is the only “religion” that encourages lying and untruth as part of its most basic ideas. It is the opposite of all other “religions”. Islam is a belief system of intolerance … again a basic core element... even the word Islam means summit.
I am also not talking about the history of other religions because even the Christian and Jewish faiths as well as Hindus admit the errors of their follows in the past… Only the practitioners of the cult of Islam ( and I might add the cult of Scientology ) do not admit it ……In some ways Scientology and Islam are also similar in that the mere act of questioning it’s origins or beliefs are met with vile responses and threats…. The opposite of freedom is Islam.
