Ending taken from 'The Last Leaf'

"The Last Leaf"

an English short story we had in middle school Lootera's climax borrows heavily from it.

otherwise an interesting movie, a bit overdrawn out & a few weird scenes especially in the first half

but still a little different & interesting

Well, it is no surprise now that Lootera is an adaptation of O Henry's short story....The makers themselves have declared that.
As for the film, what is really amazing is how Vikramaditya Motwane did a fantastic job with the storytelling, in both visual and narrative ways. The photography and art direction are stunning but not overblown. Rather, at times, they are kept minimal and Motwane instead focuses on the music and silence. The dialogues are simple, yet funny, tragic and full of wisdom (got to hand it to you, Anurag Kashyap), the film is almost perfectly paced save for a few moments that become a bit slow. There is almost something to watch in every single scene- and even if nothing is happening, you would pay attention to some nice nuance or some clever dialogue or the other. And both Sonakshi and Ranveer did a fantastic job. Sonakshi was very good in her vulnerable, believably naive character while Ranveer excelled as a thief debating his choices....\
My rating- 9/10

It literally says in the credits that it is inspired by that. You missed it probably. Not lifted.
