What the hell... they can't even write coherent dialogue?
Yes, of course they can, but if the alien spoke perfect English, it wouldn't have been as funny or seemed as alien. In both the book and the movie, the Boov had language that was incorrect and awkward. Like most who first learn a language, they didn't understand either nuance or idioms. Their weird way of communicating emphasizes that they are not a part of us or our world.
Exactly! That's what makes it funny. The Boov dialogue sounded cute and I loved all the adorable way that Oh said stuff: "Are you going in the out?" "We are not safety."
