Mom doesn't look like she's from Barbados

While Tip is black her mom looks more like she's a Mexican or something.

Maybe, but people in the Caribbean come in a variety of colors and shades.

reply

Have you seen the people of barbados though?lol They are straight descendants of Africans.

They see me trolling...they hatin, they wanna try to catch me typing dirty

reply

I have been to Barbados. I think you're right - most of them are very dark, but not all. Do you really feel that it breaks story narrative to have the mother lighter?

reply

really now? are you bajan? well, i am...
jamaica's motto is "out of many, one people"... the same can be said for most of the west indies... ever heard of a redleg? those are what they called white bajans, descendants from the poor scots sent as slaves to the island (yes, in barbados, some of the earliest slaves were poor white scotsmen)....
furthermore have you seen rihanna herself? not dark skin, like her mother (who is actually guyanese, lol)... her father is so light he could pass as a puerto rican in new york...

point is black people come in every shade and colour, west indians most definitely included....

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack. Not rationality...

reply

Are you responding to me? I agree with that and said essentially the same thing about the variety of skin tones in my first post.

reply

lol sorry i meant to reply to the post above yours.... apologies, i usually respond to the correct post....

"Maybe, but people in the Caribbean come in a variety of colors and shades."--

That is true, case in point:Rihanna herself who is light-skinned and is from Barbados which is located in the Carribean.

in Barbados there are
1.Indo-Guyanese, from India originally
2.Euro-Bajans (4% of the population)[1] have settled in Barbados since the 17th century, originating from England, Ireland and Scotland. Among White Barbadians there exists an underclass known as Redlegs; the descendants of Irish indentured laborers and prisoners imported to the island.[62] Many additionally moved on to become the earliest settlers of modern-day North and South Carolina in the United States.
3.Chinese-Barbadians
4.Lebanese and Syrians
5.Jewish
6.The Muslim-Indian Barbadian 7.Romani people (Gypsies) from England who were expelled and deported to Barbados.[63]

In real life, Rihanna is a light skinned Barbadian whose father is mixed and light skinned and her mother is black. I think Tip is biracial and her dad was black but her mother is clearly not, so it's not unrealistic as it mirrors Rihanna's real heritage.

Honestly, anyone can look like they're from the Caribbean. There are lots of ethnicities represented there.

reply

I'm not sure what to make of this statement. We have no idea what the father looks like. Maybe she takes after him? Maybe she's adopted? Maybe there are some recessive genes at play.

Kids are not always little carbon copies.

I'm not from Barbados but I've been to every Caribbean country- many several times, including Barbados- and it's a very diverse population, just like the US. There are a lot of very dark-skinned people, but there are also light skinned blacks, white people, Asians etc.

Black people come in every shade from extremely fair to very dark. We have hair ranging from straight to extremely kinky. I have darker caramel skin and very long, textured hair while my daughter is lighter skinned with shorter hair that has a "mixed"-like texture. Even in my family there is a big range of looms from dark to light, green eyes to brown eyes, blondish hair to black hair. It's normal.

If you Google image Barbados people, you'll see that they're a mix and come in different shades. Not to mention the fact that her mom was Jennifer Lopez so that's probably how they designed her.
