Was I seeing things, or was that Tom Skerritt as Sonny's dad in the poster that his mom is looking at at the end?

Thought the exact same thing. It probably was. He was probably in flashback scenese they cut.

I don't know about that. Though this isn't a real deal breaker, but according to IMDB Costner is 6'1" and Skerritt is 6"0". Coach Weaver looks to be at least three, maybe more inches shorter than his son.
