What did non-NFL fans think of this movie?

I only ask because, as a long term fan of the game ... this is one of the dumbest, most improbable plots based on ...what? I don't know.

But maybe, for some unforeseen reason, they made a movie about the NFL for NON fans.

If so, what did you non-fans think of this movie? Was it interesting to you?

I have never watched an NFL match or a draft in my life. Therefore I did not really know the rules and whether the wheeling and dealing shown in the movie was plausible or not. I had to figure out the rules from the movie. That's bad. :D

To be honest, I found this movie entertaining and engaging. I even thought stuff like this actually happens in drafts. But later when I checked out the IMDB message boards after the movie, I realized that the story is a bit over the top and highly improbable.
But still, I am happy that I did'nt know the rules or seen the message boards before the movie, because I may not have enjoyed it. Ignorance is bliss!! :P

btw,is it me or does Jennifer Garner look kind of odd??

reply

Garner didn't look odd at all. I'm just mad that I had to wait all that time to see a kiss between her and Costner! lol.

I, too, am not an NFL fan and even after reading some of the boards, I didn't see the trade as improbable or implausible. People make decisions based on the information they had. Yeah, Weaver could have gotten Mack at #7, but when he was told to make a splash, he had to do some figuring. And went all around the Mulberry bush to do it. Quite enjoyable.

I loved the movie. The direction and the cinematography was amazing. And Costner... boy, he just gets finer with age, doesn't he?

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

I don't follow NFL or any other sport, but I enjoyed this movie. It was suspenseful and had interesting characters and kept me entertained. Just to prove how out of the loop I am on NFL, I had to look up this movie afterwards to figure out if it was based on real players and events or not. It was not.

Some aspects were a bit confusing. I get the general idea of how the draft works, but the trading part of it wasnt completely clear.

I dont really care for watching sports, but movies like this can be entertaining. They capture a lot of the interesting and inspirational elements of organized sports, but don't require me to spend a good portion of my free time following teams.

I'm not a football fan but I enjoyed the movie better than expected.

I hate football and other than watching the super bowl I never watch it. However, I enjoyed the movie. In particular the performance of Chadwick Boseman and the craziness of the constant changing of the picks at the end.

That was crazy

If you hate football why watch the Super bowl. I don't like cheese, so I would never order a plate of cheese and crackers

Die hard NFL fan here and yeah this was 100% aimed at non NFL fans. The way the GMs and coaches talked to each other was way too unrealistic. Then on top of that the trades were just too goofy that even the dumbest teams in the NFL wouldn't even do them. Its pretty clear the people who made this film did zero research on how the NFL draft actually works
