As fake as it gets.

Two things in particular that I noticed:

1. The "enemy fire" as they got off the rafts. Do they really expect us to believe that they would be shooting at these "stars"? Or that the "stars" would be ok with being shot at? And where, exactly, were these supposed bullets coming from?

2. Fake grenades. When you fire a grenade and miss your target, the grenade still explodes. But yet when each team missed the tower with their first shots... silence.

Did anybody else notice anything else that further proves how fake this show is?

One thing that I guarantee they do on the show is NOT carry live rounds. They likely get to the objective, stop the cameras, load up live ammo, and then start the shooting scenarios.

Be that as it may, I am a veteran (1999-2003) and know that they are donating 100% of the winnings on this show to amazing charities that help active duty/veterans and their families.

I am all for it.

reply

Oh absolutely, as long as the charities are the ones benefiting, they can carry around Nerf guns and SuperSoakers for all I care. I just think it's funny that they're even bothering to make it seem real and dangerous.

ps, From one veteran ('00-'09) to another, thank you for your service.

The grenades they fired at the tower are not explosive grenades, they are training chalk rounds. You can see one go off on the tower support prior to the preplaced explosives detonating. Using a 40mm live grenade on a TV show is well a worst then using live ammo.

The enemy fire is squibs. The explosions are battlefiels sims placed safetly away. The sims are commonly used during military exercise. They probably 'hollywooded' some of them up.

The show still puts stress on the actors that they havnt felt before. It's not fake... its reality TV with a twist.

Check out the credits for the show at the end of the episode.
You aren't expected to believe, unless you are unable to read, I suppose.

..proves how fake this show is?

You've tricked yourself into equating the use of some simulation with the extreme of nothing real (aka fake as it gets).

Do you believe the stars and ops actually got into the helicopters? Or was that a digital effect?

The images of the action that GEN Clark is supposedly watching as he paces around the video table in the "command center" is very obviously superimposed, and the radio traffic from Clark sounds canned. I don't mean too much disrespect to General Clark, but after watching the first two episodes so far, it's no-wonder that the producers couldn't find a general with first-hand special ops experience to sign-on to the series.

I agree that there's NO WAY that the professionals would agree to be anywhere around with the 'stars' running around with live ammo in real firearms. Sure, you can brief the stars about muzzle discipline & trigger control, etc. but you can't expect them to safely abide by that while running around under high-stress conditions.

The series is interesting, I have DVR'ed all four episodes so far & will watch them, but I wish the producers would respect their audience more & I won't be too surprised or disappointed if this show isn't renewed for a second season.
