I'm not enjoying series 2

It's missing a certain something that series 1 had. I don't know what it was exactly, but it's become like Neighbours or Home and Away this new series.
I think I hate that the parents are the main source of focus now. I prefer the storylines about the greenhills gang

Yeah definitely! They should've written her weight gain in as a storyline. I know its sensitive but still it wouldn't have mattered

Please! I noticed Ashleigh Cummings' weight gain in the series 2 teaser! I actually thought that the producers made a pregnancy storyline for Debbie because of the weight gain!

I feel that they just tackled the Cheryl being pregnant storyline really quickly. It was just brushed over.

Judy Vickers is such a god damned snob. It's all about the image for her. I hate how rude she is to Rodger and Pam, especially Pam. Pam is a good mother

Yeah Martin should've cheated on Judy with Annie. Judy deserves to be cheated on because she's so uptight and rude to everyone. At the beginning of the series I used to hate how Debbie was so rude to her but now I think she deserves it.

And with saying of all of, I LOVE Claudia Karvan. She is a truly amazing actress

That episode (4) was the best so far. What a shock. It has finally picked up

The book only covers Season 1 - it basically ends with the girls running off to write the book, as the authors did. Everything they've written for Season 2 was from scratch, there's no basis for any of it in the book, so they could have written in anything they liked. Though I imagine that it was already written before Ashleigh's weight gain was apparent. That said, teenagers gain weight so why do they have to write anything in? Girls do fluctuate sizes and some girls gain and lose weight. Time passed between the two seasons so why does there really need to be an explanation?

They separated Sue and Debbie because Ashleigh Cummings was filming another TV series in Melbourne at the same time, so in order to work around her schedule they had to minimise her role in Puberty Blues since she wasn't in Sydney often enough to film with everyone. I understand why they chose to send her character to boarding school but it's still disappointing, I think what made the first series so magical was the central friendship and the show feels lacking now that there's so little Debbie on screen.

NEVER!!!

Bite your tongue. This show is fantastic and I usually can't stand Australian productions. This is the only Aussie show (drama) I watch.

I'm really enjoying this season. Not at all fussed that Deb and Sue aren't together. In fact, I actually find their 'closeness' a bit odd. I went to school in the 80s and my friends and I NEVER behaved like those two, if we had, we most certainly would have been called gay....not that there's anything wrong with that ;)

I love the attention to 70s detail and seeing Swami Sarasvati on last week's ep (when Mrs Hennessy was doing her yoga) was a trip! LOL. Love all the old 70s advertisments, the cars, the clothes, the lingo (although in Melbourne you didn't 'go round' with someone, you were just 'going' with them and we never said 'gated' and to kiss someone was to 'get on' with them. What were we thinking!?!

It's just all so Australian. Now it's like we live in Mini America. Brings a tear to the eye ;)

Series 2 started slowly, but I think it is picking up now. I hope there is a lot more Debbie on the way and that she doesn't complete the series as an outsider. I think they have done a good job wrapping all kinds of drama around her, even though she has been a secondary character. Even the adult characters are getting more interesting.

Agree. Series 2 started a bit wobbly, but this week's (#2.7) was superb.
Always been a fan of the movie, but since the series has time to look at things in more depth, any comparison is probably unfair.
So I guess I love the series in its own right.
I'm no surfie by a long shot, but the beach scenes are so lovingly shot that I've thought fairly often about nipping down to the beach.
If only for a Chiko Roll.

2.8 was a bit...blah. Again. Disappointed.

Oddly, as much as I wanted Debbie to return, I feel like the show got worse trying to insert her back in as a main character. After watching the final, I mostly found the ending a bit lacking. I enjoyed most of the show from beginning until Debbie left school, and then it got worse as they tried to wrap up the end.
