Is it over?

I'm a little confused. We've had 9 episodes but on IMDB it says there is supposed to be 12 episodes in Season 2 however the promos said the ninth episode was the finale. What happened to the other 3 episodes? Did IMDB just get it wrong? I know that Season 1 only had 8 episodes so I suppose that 9 makes more sense.

Also when they said it was the finale, did they mean SEASON finale or SERIES finale? Is it over for good? It was the sort of finale that could be meant for either I thought. Perhaps it hasn't been decided yet. I know there was a longer gap than usual between Season 1 and Season 2, as if it took a long time to decide whether or not to do another season. Or perhaps the actors were just not available till that time. Not sure on that.

Really love the show as I was in high school in the 70's and there is much in it that is so true. Hope it's coming back for another season.
