I thought this was meant to incorporate about 30 minutes of new footage that was shot in '92 and featured on the Production Footage DVD.
But there's only about 5 minutes of new footage at the very end, right?

I haven't seen the film version, or most of the raw footage, but I was told most of the footage was actually just alternate scenes, and no complete story or anything like that. 30 or 40 minutes of random stuff basically.

Yeah, turns out it's about 30-40 minutes of raw footage, mostly alternate takes of the same scenes and shots, so it only ads up to be about 5 minutes in the movie.

It is surprising. There's most likely a remake of the original in some stage of being made.

A year ago Robert Hiltzik announced he was planning a remake of his own due to creative differences with any studio that was interested. And considering how long it took RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP to get released, and how long it's been taking SLEEPAWAY CAMP REUNION to get made, I would say it's safe to assume the remake will never happen.
