Ali's contested score on balance beam

What part of the score exactly did the judges change? Did they score it wrong to begin with or change their minds? It all happened so fast! (Sorry- "Aly")

On the west coast. Watching it right now. Never seen a gymnastic score dispute before. How can a subjective score be changed?

If that's the one Bella Koroli(sp) was yelling at the US coach to protest I think Bella thought the score was too low and the judges were not including elements of her routine. As part of the written protest I think the broadcaster said the coach had to write down the elements of the routine as he saw it or the elemets he thought they overlooked. Then I guess the judges replayed her performance.

Same thing happened with the men's team gymnastics - didn't Japan file an appeal and knock the UK out of bronze position.

I've never seen such scoring issues EVER

I was glad they contested Ali's score - she was definitely underscored

I believe they thought she had not been given points for some moves used in combination. Doing moves right after each other and linking them gives you more points and I think they thought she had not been given those points and so were contesting it. (So that would be the technical points part.)

They did, I believe, go back and watch it again and see the combination moves and gave her those points, thus raising her score and giving her bronze.

May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out.
