I knew a lot of girls were being killed, but for some reason I never thought to call it genocide. Just a bunch of stupid, ignorant people doing stupid, ignorant things. But after seeing that one lady call it genocide in the trailer that's how I see it now.
Hopefully, this will end one day.

My reaction upon watching this was that I wish I could go to India and adopt an unwanted baby girl. But, that would not solve the problem at all. To truly solve the problem of female infanticide, the people living within that culture must change. The biggest question is how can such ingrained beliefs be changed? As a Westerner, I don't know how. Americans have such great freedoms and our cultures vary greatly throughout the country, so moving to a better place is easily done. While not a perfect system, there are resources available to poor families so that children, elderly, and handicapped can be taken care of. Sons don't shoulder such a heavy burden of being the sole caretaker/financial provider.
Hopefully, India and China will be able to change from the inside. There are already some good policies in place, if only those in charge could effectively put them into action.
