Top 5 Reasons Why Bad is better than Thriller

5 REASONS WHY (IMPO) BAD IS BETTER THAN THRILLER:

5. That was my first REAL discovery of the king of pop—Yeah, I have discovered him on his videos for the Thriller album originally. I also used to be real scared of the title track of the video (especially when he had those reptilian eyes and his zombie look). It wasn’t until the title track video for the follow-up 1987 album of Bad, that’s when I began my interest in the king of pop.

4.More than half the songs on Bad are in his greatest hits compilations—If you think about it, half the songs on his recent greatest hits are from that album. Thriller may have the album sales and the historic moments surrounding that record, but Bad has more memorable hits and have five #1 singles on the Billboard Pop chart from 1987-1988.

3. More music videos—While Thriller raised the bar for the fledgling MTV network with three groundbreaking short films, Bad has around eight videos in their collection. As the old saying goes, “the more, the merrier”.

2. There’s a not real BAD song on the album—Sure Bad has a couple of mediocre songs, but then again so does Thriller (especially with the middle of that album). Bad had a only a couple of songs I can’t stand like “Liberian Girl” and “Another Part of Me” while Thriller had three songs (“Baby Be Mine”, “The Girl is Mine”, and of course the title track). Both of those songs on Bad are mediocre at worse.

AND #1 REASON WHY I LIKE BAD BETTER THAN THRILLER:

“Smooth Criminal” (both the song and video)—The song is both the “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” of the Bad album. The song is one of the best songs I have ever heard from MJ with a killer bass line and the murderous subject matter. That’s the “Billie Jean” portion of my reason. The “Thriller” part of that particular song is the innovation of that video which he revolutionized in the former track with dazzling chorography and movie-like cinematography. As what the Nostalgia Critic said, “Thriller may have revolutionized music videos, Smooth Criminal perfected it.” I could not agree more with his statement.

I love both albums and they are among in my Top 10 greatest pop albums list. So even if you are not a fan of MJ, at least give these albums a listen.
