Obviously fake tattooing sessions

I never had a tattoo in my life, and I don't really know anyone with many tattoos. But even I know that some of those tattoos couldn't be done in just a few hours. Tattoos of those sizes and those complexities need multiple sessions to give the skin time to calm down. And could it be anymore obvious that the "reveal" is happening days later?? When a person gets a tattoo, the skin is red, inflamed, and often bleeding. Yet during these "reveals", the skin around the tattoo is in perfect shape, with no swelling, etc. It's like the tattoo version of lip-syncing. Why not show real sessions (although I think some of them are real but definitely not all)?

Also, why aren't they showing the removal of bad tattoos? Some people get their tattoos lasered off, don't they?

I just think they should show a more realistic approach to a cover-up. Show that it takes multiple sessions, multiple days, and sometimes doesn't always look very good. I mean it's clear that they are trying to show the best situations, it's just not very realistic. So what were left with is the same situation being shown over and over again.

I enjoy it the way it is.
Showing that time has passed or that someone's coming in for a third or fourth session would take more time and be boring. To me anyway.

You're exactly right, BethW88. I'm the showrunner for the 2nd season and I can tell you guys we faked absolutely nothing. A few of the sessions went between 8 and 9 hours. Some sessions went 2 days.

The pain in the clients' faces is real too. The reason the tattoos looked so good at the end is because a) our artists are inanely good and b) our camera operators are insanely good. Normally I wouldn't take the time to respond to a comment about the series but I felt I had to since other shows ARE faking the process, and we put so much work into casting the right people with interesting stories and then figuring out how to cover up the tattoos with something that was meaningful, beautiful, and that logistically worked to cover up the horrible ink they had before.

Hope you continue to watch and enjoy the show.
