I actually liked the premise. The budget was pretty apparent, but what can you do?
For some reason I like exploring claustrophobia in horror films.. Something that The Descent started to build upon, but didn't really satisfy.
When well done, you really do experience the claustrophobia- without having to put yourself through the agony.
Man this movie was very tough for me to watch...My anxiety level the whole movie was sky high. Probably the first movie since the Descent that was this hard of a watch for me.
As for the movie it wasnt the worst movie ever and as you said you could tell the budget..Overall the movie, for me, accomplished what a horror movie is supposed to and make you feel uncomfortable the entire movie..That would be horrific to be stuck in a small space
That's what I'm sayin'.
If you actually let it sink in.. Basically put yourself in her position.
She's already deep underground. Once she's in those tunnels, there's nO turning back. The spaces keep getting tighter and tighter and there's no sure way to know if there's even an exit at the end of the line.
They nailed it with the claustrophobia. That was enough for me.
I didn't really care either way about the added monster element
I've seen a lot of films, so I usually feel like I'm desensitised to most things I see in movies these days, but this film got me. The further she goes, the crazier it got. I'm not usually claustrophobic, but I got a little taste of it watching this.
shareThere are very few films that get me BEGGING for the person in a certain situation to get some sort of respite from the sh*t he/she is going through.
The further Tank got into the tunnels, when it started getting darker & dustier & tighter, I was PRAYING for her to get some bloody relief, thinking "oh come onnnnn get somewhere a bit wider will you, you poor thing!!"
Very well done, if you ask me (which you don't, but I'll say it anyway) lol
I think anyone in her position especially late in the movie would have had trouble dealing with those tight spaces. Hell the amount of air to breathe down there must have been running out and then when she had to dig dirt and throw it behind her just to make some sort of progress it was painful to watch and I felt for the person. I do like the premise for this movie like nomadprog did mention but as for the budget I don't what it was but that creature looked pretty darn good for a low budget picture. They may have had more money than you think but then again maybe it was just a good costume designer or whatever for the creature. As for me getting that claustrophobic feeling I definitely got it from this movie but again I will repeat I think any normal human being would have felt trapped and sick to their stomach in some of the situations Tank got herself in.
