Shocking Spitting Situation

It was shocking when Conrad spit in his teacher's face. What made it worse was how it was handled. No apology? No shame or regret? No suspension? No counseling?

That is one messed up little boy and the consequence he gets for what is legally an assault on a teacher is, "Okay, Son, I'll change my sex life for you."???

It makes sense that this misguided father is making that mistake but why would the teacher and the principal just let him sit there like, "Tough, I did it - deal with it." What about the other kids in the classroom whom were exposed to that assault? And, their parents when they hear about it?

So, the lesson is that it's okay to spit in your teacher's face (but only when you disapprove of her sex life)? Nooooo!!!

That was so unbelievable.

Assault? He spit on her. He didn't beat her up. We don't know how it was handled because they didn't show it in the movie, but the father telling him he wouldn't have sex with her again was ridiculous.

Yes, "assault."

A man who intentionally spat at another can be charged with criminal assault, a U.S. appeals court ruled on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Lewellyn was sentenced to two years probation and 50 hours of community service after he spat in 2004 at a patient who swore at him on the grounds of a Veterans Administration Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington.

He appealed the conviction, arguing that spitting did not constitute an assault, but the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed.

"Intentionally spitting on another person is an offensive touching that rises to the level of simple assault," the three-judge panel wrote.

There was a scene which showed how it was handled with Conrad, his father, Gene, his teacher and the school principal. That meeting in which the teacher spoke up for him, "I'm sure this won't happen again.," was the only consequence shown. Conrad did not apologize... he sat there silent.

Spitting on someone is assault. That was the one part of the movie that really made me hate that kid too. I understand the whole not wanting to talk to your Dad thing I went through that phase as a teen and thats forgivable but I've never spit in anyone's face especially couldn't imagine doing it to a lady. That's just totally unforgivable.

If a spit in the face is unforgivable, what would your reaction be if he punched her? Beat her unconscious? raped her? MURDERED HER? BEYOND UNFORGIVABLE!!!!!!

The kid is messed up from his mom just dying and him not properly processing his grief as well being in the most insecure/alienated stage of adolescence.

Yeah no duh he should have apologized and there should have been some more consequences. But the people in his life who care for him did what they thought was best and showed huge amount of empathy/compassion. The teacher especially. So again, his dealing with all that crap I just mentioned plus finding out that his dad is banging his teacher and they didn't tell him was overwhelming for his psyche.

Jesus christ you people are stupid. Yeah it was wrong for him to spit in her face. Unforgivable? That monster!

Agent phantom you mad bro? Please tell us how you really feel. :)

I guess my reaction to him raping and murdering would be for him to go to jail for the rest of his life or getting the lethal injection? Or maybe yeah just have a talk with his Dad and force him to ride home with him.

That kid definitely needed counseling, as did the whole family. He should have been suspended for the spitting incident.

He seemed like a time bomb the way he watched violent videos and played violent video games. His father was overly patient with him and only received rude behaviour in response. I really disliked that kid and kept expecting him to blow up the school or something.
