I dont understand the hype around this director...

I have seen the three films he have made. None of them went good on cinema in Norway. And all my friends who have seen the hated them. No one cared for him before one day hes film Reprise was picked out for Cannes. Then he suddently became the greatest director from norway ever. Even his short film that no one liked before, got good reviews everywhere. And yes yes! i know thats normal. But still. Hes movies are really boring. I think they feel too easy and too cheap. There are no out puts in hes film. No ruff cuts. If you compare him to Lars Von Trier (Denmark). I feel Lars have really hard edge in hes film. He dare to fail. And he goes his own way. Joachim Trier is just plain boring. And tell me? What is this film about? Something we haven't seen 100 times before. Artist with sense and arty style of making movies are great. But they need some edgy director tecnic. My favorite is Michael Haneke. He actually manage me to get bored but trilled. And a little scared at the same time. When I watch a Haneke movie I feel he almost making fun of all the wanna be artist out there like Joachim Trier and others. Lets make a movie slow, pace down down. Lets make the audience just wait. Let them get bored, and bang! Im in the movie again. He did that in the Hidden, and in Bennys videos, and extually all hes films from the 90s.

I pray to God that Joachim Trier can stop making movies. I just hate them. Great popcorn directors from Norway is old school Nils Gaup, Tommy Wirkola... Good drama tellers is Morten Tyldum and the girl who made Sykt lykkelig. Great artist who mix genre is Reinert Kiil and bent Hamer. All of this have a personal stigma in their films. And they have something that grabs there audience. Even if its about Tommys fart and puke humor or Kiils fetish of violence. Hamer `s strange univers or Tyldums Hollywood look in small budget stuff.

Please Joachim! Stop making movies. And please people stop telling they are great. the Movies are crap!

Please let us know when you have your own vision. Clearly, someone thought this movie was good enough for Cannes. And for some of us, this movie hit home.

What a stupid thing to say. Someone can provide criticism like the OP has, which is well thought out and provides insight other than just saying, "this is the worst movie ever!!!" without creating their own films. I doubt you're a filmmaker, so we could flip the table and say that your positive opinion doesn't matter because you don't create anything yourself.
