The inscription in the book Lota held

When Lota visits Elizabeth, she picks up a book with a handwritten message inside that I could not read at all when I watched it on tv. It made her very sad. I wondered if another woman, possibly the brunette that Bishop was with briefly in some earlier scenes, could have been expressing love to Bishop.
