Two questions after seeing this movie last night...SPOILERS

1) I'd really like to think that the goat killing in the movie was not real but it looked like it was. Some movies have killed animals for the movie, a famous one being the movie 'Apocalypse Now'. Does anyone know if the goat was really killed for this movie?

2) Did the Somalian pirate shoot the captain by mistake? I know he was pointing the gun at the captain but then the scene goes to the cook and we hear a gunshot and when the camera pans back to the captain the Somalian pirate looks genuinely surprised like he is thinking "Oh crap, that wasn't supposed to happen". It looked as if he pulled the trigger by mistake based on his reaction. Anyone know?

Other than that good movie, 7/10 but I knew something was going to happen when the cook stupidly put the necklace on his neck. Right when he did that I was like "why would you do that? At least put it in your pocket or something until the pirates leave"

I would say the goat killing was legit, and they probably raised the camera so that someone off camera could cut the throat instead of the actor.

As for the shooting of the captain, it may have been accidental, but these pirates were probably looking for some action after 185+ days of boredom on the ship, and the captain finally played ball.

I don't know about the goat. Looked like it was a continuous shot, so they might have killed it for real.

As for the captain being killed. The pirate "bosses" might have warned the pirates not to kill the hostages. After they've gotten the money, no need to "restrain" themselves. The captain annoyed the pirate, so what the hell. After the fact he might have realised what he'd truly done, and that's why he was shocked.
