Katy and Russell's Marriage and Divorce

I watched this documentary last night and I enjoyed it a lot. I was a little surprised at how Katy and Russell's marriage was portrayed here. It seemed like it was nearly perfect until they showed Katy crying before a concert and then the news story that broke about Russell filing for divorce. I guess the way it looked from watching this documentary that Katy didn't really want that, and it was more Russell's doing. I know there's two sides to every story and maybe this documentary wanted to white wash it or maybe it really was that way. Did anyone else notice this?

It seemed as though the Katy and Rusell wedding was more of show and it seems as though he never really cared about her and acts like a total douchebag but I could be wrong.

It seems like Russell acts scorned and hurt by Katy but lashes out in the media as angry about it. I heard that he was poking fun at her family's religion, and that didn't sit too well with her.

I believe Katy gets a bum rap from a lot of people. What I saw in the film is a kind and mostly gentle person who also has to be hard-nosed at times when it applies to her career and getting the best out of her shows. I also believe she is a classic "romantic" who believed she and Russell were really in love, and that they would do whatever it took to make things work out.

But Russell comes from a quite different background, and when two people from greatly different backgrounds come together, there are lots of potential pitfalls to be worked out.

The bottom line is this, they really didn't take the time to get to know each other beyond the surface "romantic" feelings they had for each other. Every long-term successful couple has those surface feeling replaced by a deep committment to each other, even when times are rough. That may take 2 years, or 20 years, but it always happens. So, if they had dated for 2 or 3 or 4 years (I know, that soundfs like a long time) and really gotten to know each other, chances are they would not have gotten married.

I think the reason they split was because yeah everything was nice and pretty on the outside but really Russell is an intellectual and Katy seems a bit vacant (I like her before all you trolls come out from under your bridge)
The reality of their relationship is that they simply didn't match. In the movie, it showed Katy being constantly tired and haggard yet flying all over the world to see Russell and make things work but it appears that they didn't spend much time together due to their conflicting schedules. It think Russell would have felt a bit cheated that the great Katy Perry actually isn't THAT good looking under all that make up (he exposed her as a fraud by putting that pic on Twitter) and she isn't THAT talented. Does she really write all her own songs?? Is she a tecnically brilliant vocal performer acapella?? Can she dance (clearly not)?? Russell is very real and constantly questions things. Katy just gets told what to do and how to act every since her record label told her she had to be a robot in order to get famous.

Katy and Russell divorcing was a sad story. There were many problems, and they were not right for each other. In general, one of the biggest problems was that Russell was in love with Katy's on-stage persona, and not the real person.

I am nervous about Katy and John Mayer. In my life, I have known a lot of women like Katy (and often had unrequited crushes on them), and I have known a lot of men like John. Unfortunately, when they would get together, it never ended well.

This is going to be hard to find, but I think Katy's best match would be someone who is not a celebrity, and someone who does not listen to her music. The problem is, she won't know if a non-celebrity truly loves her, or is after her money. And finding someone who doesn't listen to her music will be hard, given her level of popularity.

To answer your questions, in my personal opinion:

Katy Perry actually isn't THAT good looking under all that make up (he exposed her as a fraud by putting that pic on Twitter)

I have seen many beautiful pictures of Katy with little or no makeup. I am glad that she is now going for a more natural look that enhances her natural beauty, rather than hides it.

and she isn't THAT talented.

I personally think Katy has a very beautiful and very versatile voice. The thing is, not all of her big hits necessarily showcase her voice. Try listening to some of her ballads. I think that her power ballads are what work best for her voice. Katy's voice has a very soft and sweet quality, but also a lot of power, so it's perfect for power ballads. I recommend "Unconditionally", and "By The Grace of God".

Does she really write all her own songs??

Yes, she does. Her songs are straight from her heart. The first song she wrote was called "Trust In Me", and she was a little kid (maybe about 12 years old) when she wrote it.

Is she a tecnically brilliant vocal performer acapella??

I have not heard her sing acapella. But I have seen stripped down accoustic performances with just her and her guitar, and she sang beautifully! I've seen comments even by people who don't like her who say that her live accoustic performances are beautiful.

Can she dance (clearly not)??

Her dancing ability, I'm not sure about. I do know that a common criticism of her is that her voice gets much weaker when she is trying to dance too much. Part of that is because I don't think that comes natrually to her; she's far more comfortable with just a microphone and guitar, and no exotic dance moves.

Russell is very real and constantly questions things. Katy just gets told what to do and how to act every since her record label told her she had to be a robot in order to get famous.

Katy is clearly not the type that would allow anyone (a record company, nor anyone else) to bully her around. I think she may have been lost and genuinely did not know who she was, until recently. My assessment of each of her secular solo studio albums:

One of the Boys: the album that got her noticed
Teenage Dream: the album that made her a superstar
Prism: the album where she figured out who she really is

I feel quite confident in asserting that Perry is a veritable brain surgeon compared to most groupies that the "Shagger Of The Year" is used to banging.

And BTW, Brand only SEEMS "intellectual" because of his accent. Repeat everything the guy says in a New Jersey accent and it won't sound that "intellectual."

She writes or co-writes most of her stuff.

She plays guitar (and piano, I think).

Is she a tecnically brilliant vocal performer acapella??

Katy just gets told what to do and how to act

She was dropped from labels numerous times because she refused to do just that!

Sorry, but the only "vacant" one here is you.

Katy Perry might be a little bitter about their divorce. Russell Brand wasn't even credited in the end credits, yet he had a fairly major role in the film (not to mention her life!) Well, most marriages that break up don't end nicely, and Perry obviously isn't very happy about it. Anyway, I hope she does find what she's looking for.
