I don't think Deepika deserved a Filmfare award for this film

Deepika is a great actress and I really loved her in Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. However, she was just average in Ram Leela. She just played the stereotypical Juliet in this adaptation of Romeo and Juliet which has already been done to death in Bollywood before. I think compared to Deepika, Parineeti Chopra did a much better job in Ishaqzaade which was another take on Romeo and Juliet. Deepika's Leela is nothing compared to Parineeti's fiery and feisty Zoya in Ishaqzaade. Parineeti made her character so interesting by adding a lot of spunk to it. She even fires bullets on her own family to save her lover. But all Deepika does is cry and pine for her lover and tell her family how much she loves Ram. Even the wooden Kareena Kapoor (who obviously walked out of that film) would have played that role without any hassle. Leela's role is the least challenging to pull off to say the least. It would have made more sense if Deepika won the Filmfare award for her performance in Chennai Express rather than for her performance in Ram Leela.
