Question about the shotgun..

At the end when she (Holly) uses the shotgun. When she takes her first shot at her, she was quite a distance from her. Shouldn't there have been more of a spread pattern when it hit the ground. In the barn, when she was taking more shots. Shouldn't there have been more kick after she pulled the trigger.

Other than that, It was one of LMN's better movies.

Thing about shotguns, it depends on the gauge of shell and diameter (caliber) of the gun. The bigger the gauge, the lighter the round; so a 20 gauge is actually smaller than a 12 guage, etc. and the barrel is narrower. See wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauge_(bore_diameter)

The spread of shot is not only a function of the gauge but also the barrel. Longer barrel means narrower spread over distance. If she fired a 16 or 20 gauge gun, the pattern of shot will actually be quite tight, compared to a 12-guage. And correspondingly less recoil as well because the amount of grain is reduced in higher gauge shot.

So the action you describe sounds like a 20 gauge.Limited recoil and tighter grouping of shot.
