Where was this filmed?

I like to kind of know where a movie was made based on the look of the town and the houses and locations. I for some reason am clueless about this one. Does anyone know where the location of this production was done?

Well, according to the guide book Ben gives the kid, they live in Roanfield. Roanfield is in San Antonio, Texas. Not sure if it was actually filmed there or not though.

Thank you... I thought the locations in the movie looked like some places I had been and since I have not been to San Antonio it either means it wasn't some place I had been or else it was and they used a different setting for the locations. I know I just watched a movie the other night and I knew the location where it was suppose to have been filmed but knew that was not the case. 1) I knew the town well 2) I knew where the location was where it was shot because I had friends in the film.

Actually, I believe, like most movies they make { if not made in Canada }, they film them in Montrose, Newhall, and other San Fernando Valley locations. I know for certain that several of the shots were taken around the area where several Film Ranches are located ( filmed on these and the know the areas around ). If you watch some of their other films ( A Star For Christmas, Meet My Mom, and Operation Cupcake, for instance ), these are filmed in the same locations [ Star For Christmas confirms filming in these locations ). I hope that this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have seen A Star for Christmas and Operation Cupcake but not the other film you mentioned. I will look for them this July for the Christmas in July movie runs. Thanks again and have a wonder filled day.

I live not too far north of San Antonio. When I saw the movie, it did not strike me as San Antonio. I'll have to watch more closely next time it's on.

License plates are all CA.
Also, you can see the outside shot of the stadium where Ben is supposedly playing his minor league away-game near the beginning of the film when he first loses Jake, is the University of Washington's Husky Stadium. (You can actually see the purple sign: "Welcome to Husky Stadium" in the shot, but this is just an inserted exterior shot, not an actual filming location — It's a college football stadium, not minor-league baseball park, the nearby Mariners' farm teams being in Tacoma & Everett, not in Seattle, as the U-dub is.)
