inDepth NYMa aticle on netty's kidnapping

I'm reading the article now and a few things stick out to me, namely about Carl's character. One being that Carl was 22 and Joy was 16 and still in high school. That's statutory rap.

Also, this paragraph...

On Saturday, January 15, Joy paid to fly Netty and Samani to New York to visit. Netty had wanted them to come to her, and Carl had the time—he was home on disability after a truck accident in ­October—but Joy was having trouble taking time off work. As soon as Netty landed, there was a glitch. Carl had agreed to pay for a rental car but couldn’t be there to meet the flight. He says he had a doctor’s appointment for his work injury; Netty says he was traveling to a casino with some friends. When Netty tried for the dayto rent the car, the company forbade it. “You have to be 25,” she says. She was starting to get uneasy about the meeting.

So his daughter has been missing for 20+ years. He should have been grateful to God and overwhelmed with joy and excitement to meet her for the first time but he doesn't pick her up from the airport because of a doctor's appointment? Really? I mean, he couldn't have rescheduled for a later date? It's not everyday that a missing child returns to their bio parents after being missing for 20+ years. That's a miracle but he made a doctor's appointment a priority over meeting his daughter? What's really sad is that more than likely the doctor's appointment was a complete lie and like Carlina said, he went to the casino with his buddies because you can't convince me that he couldn't have rescheduled his doctor's appointment to be there to meet his child. That's just ridiculous.

I was pissed off just from watching this - then reading this article pissed me off even more!

I don't know if I'd trust that what Netty/Carlina said about Carl being at the casino is accurate. It's certainly possible & she may be right, but it's also possible that the poor girl is slightly screwed up - if she is, it's certainly understandable, being raised by a drug addicted kidnapper & then learning she'd been lied to her whole life!

IMO Ann Pettway is a selfish, lowlife, beyotch who deserved a LOT more than 12 yrs. in prison for what she did. Some of these judges need to have their heads examined! She should have to serve least 23 yrs. I'd like to have seen her get even more time.

(I'll probably do a separate post about this later, because I'm absolutely livid).
