Was the racist police scene based on a true event?

Did Anne Pettway and the people at her house really get racially profiled and harassed by the Connecticut police for no reason?

Errr... were we watching the same movie? The girl and a few of her friends were simple chatting on the lawn. Where do you get spilling out into the streets and creating havoc out on streets from? Or is that how you see blacks harmless socializing with their friends and family as well in this disruptive and problematic light that needs police intervention. You sound no better than the cops. That you can't see racial profiling in behavior like that is scary quite frankly.

I don't think that had to do with race

I certainly do. A couple of white cops cruising down a black neighborhood and telling black family and their friends to get inside because it looks like their causing trouble just because they are socializing on their lawn. Wouldn't happen in a white neighborhood.

I thought it was more to show how crazy she was and how quickly she goes from happy to angry.

I saw the incident pretty much the same as you astra. None of Ann's party followers seemed to be objecting to the attitude of the police. It was Ann's provocation that was turning the episode into a racist issue.

 at the people saying"It wasn't racist and I don't think it had anything to do with race".
