Aunjanue Ellis

Although this character Ann is pretty much a horrible person in my opinion, this actress Aunjanue Ellis played that role to the 100th-1000th degree. This actress talent has no boundaries-she's amazing. The emotional life of this woman, the depth... you just believed her totally as this woman -- her commitment to the character showed. That performance was so strong.

I'm hoping when the Emmy nods come out next year -- she gets a nomination.

Sherri Shepherd was good to but I did still get the sense that playing a dramatic role was new for Sherri.

This was my first time seeing her and I was impressed!

I completely agree with you and Aunjanue has always been an amazing actress that is underrated. Although I despised the real Ann, Aunjanue made her appear to be human in some of the scenes.

Oh my goodness, ABSOLUTELY this actress is mesmerizing in all of her roles. She is indeed underrated and that's a shame. She completely embodied the character. I was actually SCARED in many of the scenes for young Carlina. And the scene where she was confronting the cops (who, by the way, should have been black in that neighborhood---or at least one of them) was so REAL. Wow. Does she have a fan club I wonder?

And her hair? Loved it!! How refreshing to see *natural* hair on a main character.

I agree. Wow. She stole the movie, I was compelled whenever she was on the screen, even from the first in the hospital. I'm going to have to look for more movies she's in now!

I thought they all did a good job...this movie was good for a Lifetime movie, lol! I mean it drew me and get me compelled the whole time...I actually didn't want it to end.

But yeah, my main takeaway is that Aunjanue is someone to watch!

Completely. I came here to create a thread about the same thing, but I am glad one exists. She did an extraordinary job. I was surprised that the acting was so great considering it was a lifetime movie. Sherri S's depth was well acted too. Lifetime seems to have done Some (not giving it too much credit) justice with a story. But I suppose that is up to the people's opinions whose stories they are based on.

She was also amazing in "The Book Of Negros".

I seen her in this one movie with Wesley Snipes she was great in that. Great actress very underrated.

This is the first time that I have come across the name of Aunjanue. By the spelling I would say that it has the same pronunciation as the French word 'ingénue.' A word that I have heard describe the stereotypical shy and innocent female characters of old movies. Shy and innocent doesn't describe Aunjanue's character in this story. Great performance from her though.
