Has Mark Williams left the show?
I see Tim Vine is now playing Beach.

I noticed that too and wondered about it. Although after seeing all the Harry Potter movies, I kept expecting Williams and Spall to whip out wands and start dueling....hard at times to accept people who you've seen in roles playing something different. It was the same with the remake of A Room With a View with Spall as Mr. Emerson and Williams as Mr. Beebe. I had a hard time buying that casting.

I love Spall (too awesome for words in Mutual Friend) but trying to replace Denholm Elliott (Room) and Peter O'Toole (Heavy Weather) is a fool's game. Not blaming him. Actors need to work.

Yeah, sucks he left, he is miles better than Tim Vine.

Have to agree. Vine just doesn't have much oomph in the role. I missed Williams a lot.

Ahhhh, too bad. I really liked Mark too. The new guy of okay, but it's just not the same.

I, too, assumed Williams was too busy starting/doing Father Brown to continue appearing in this show. Too bad.

I adore Mark Williams as a rule. But he and Spall together created magic; breathing delicious silliness and conspiratorial affection into every scene.
