So, Mindy (who lives in Manhattan) gets in her car to go for a drive.

That seemed a bit of stretch to me. Not only do very few New Yorkers have cars but the ones that do, hardly use them to drive around Manhattan.

The episode wasn't successful. Sonu (?) had a great closing soliloquy, and she was right about what she said, but The Mindy Project can't make up its mind about what it wants to be--a comedy or a dramedy. Each week that goes by with maybe the greatest comic cast assembled for a sitcom relegated to a few lines each makes me less and less eager to watch.

I agree. There were some episodes last season (the ones about her relationship with Danny) where I was just, like, "Wait, this is dark. What am I watching?" It would be great if they simply stuck to making people laugh, which is why I started watching this show in the first place.

I like the emotional pieces in the show every once in a while. It makes me feel more connected to the characters and also provides a platform for important issues to be raised. Like the latest episode, with mindy saying she made the right decision to open her own business where opportunities are few and limited for Indian-american women, was thought provoking.

It may be a stretch, but the alternative is for her to 'go for a walk'. I just took it in stride. Although the show is set in NYC, most Americans can relate to going for a drive. No big deal - at least to me.

TV writers based in LA (where you can't walk anywhere) seem to forget this all the time. Think of all the Seinfeld episodes that were about their cars -- George argues over a parking space, the mechanic won't return Jerry's car, Elaine's car smells like BO, the gang can't find their car in the parking garage, George's car used to be owned by Jon Voight, the list goes on.

"Arguing with trolls is like playing chess with a pigeon . . . ."

Except tgey didn't forget because they also did an episode where it was a huge deal to visit her boyfriend in New Jersey. She had to take a train and was late for work and they had a big fight about it. I think the episodes may have even been back to back.

I feel like you guys are over stereotyping here. I lived in New York for 4 years and I had a car. And if I ever wanted to go for a drive, it would be in the middle of the night in my pajamas, which is what Mindy did. She was running away, and she didn't have a destination in mind. You can't just hop on a train of in a taxi and head towards nothing -- you can do that in a car.
