I had my hopes up for 'Based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk'

I should of known Hollywood has sworn off his books becoming screenplays since Choke had such a poor performance at the box office. Lullaby would of been an interesting choice, though.

reply

I was hoping for the same thing!
Rumor is that a Lullaby screenplay written by Palahniuk has been on the shelves for years now...I don't know how true that is, but it does lend some hope to a potential Lullaby film in the future.

reply

lol me too.

reply

Same here. I think I read that book at least three times. It's hilarious and would work so well as a movie. I always kinda pictured Jodi Foster as Helen Hoover Boyle.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

reply

Ha, I came to this page to see the same thing and I was very disappointed! I want a Survivor movie more than an novel I think I've ever read...but Lullabye is very close behind.

reply

There's another great book called Elements of Style by Strunk & White.
In it you might discover the proper uses of "of" and "have".

As in "I should have known..." as opposed to

I should of known

and "would have been..." instead of
would of been

reply

freemanpatrick7 agreed…..

Also the proper use of the following:

WAS, WERE ….as in" We were already informed" as opposed to We was already informed

DID, DONE….as in "I could have done it" as opposed to I could have did it

(this is how some people use/speak these verbs when I'm watching English movies with subtitles on..)

(I'm not claiming I'm Mr. Perfect Grammar, it's just annoyed me…)

reply

So...freemanpatrick7 = Cormac Macarthy?

English & grammer lessons on IMDB? Tsk, tsk, etc. And...oop..si...daisy.

reply

Same here.

reply

Same here as well. What a let down! Probably my favorite book of his.

reply

So...this isn't based on the book by Chuck Palahniuk?

"Buy the ticket, take the ride." --Raoul Duke, the great shark hunter

reply

No, it isn't! The stories are very different. This movie appears to be about a man whose father chooses to take himself off life support, and I assume how his family deals with it.

I originally thought it may have been based on the book as well, and I was disappointed. The movie still looks interesting though! I'd rather see Invisible Monsters, Diary or Survivor before Lullaby, but in all honesty, I wouldn't mind seeing them all adapted as long as they were done well!

reply

Wow, I would go nuts the day I heard a film version of Invisible Monsters was truly in the works.

It's always been a favorite of mine from Palahniuk, even though it seems many people find it a bit hard to swallow.

It'd be a hard film to make though. It's quite heavy on inner monologue.

reply

come on who wouldn't like to see the visuals of haunted. specifically "guts" haha

reply

I just noticed your reply. Only about a year late, haha.
But I think that it could work. Fight Club was pretty heavy on inner monologue as well, but I think in the right hands, it can be adapted effectively.
