a small beautiful film

Deeply moving and thoughtful observation of the nature of faith and the eternal struggle to find some measure
of meaning, contentment, and happiness in this life. I was familiar with the life story of Sister Hart, and was
edified to find the film such a mature, compassionate reflection of her beliefs and struggles. She was an
uncommonly beautiful and luminous actress during her film career, and is today still an uncommonly beautiful and
luminous human being as she bears her heart and soul while expressing the constant human need to come to
terms with God, love and our ultimate purpose in the grand mystery that is our lives. May we all, in our own
unique ways, find our cherished paths to peace of mind, body and soul....

That is a truly beautiful statement.

I was in tears at the end of the documentary. The shot of Mother Dolores and Don holding hands as they walked down the path was especially poignant. Mother Dolores had been on "The View" this week and told the ladies that Don had passed away at Christmas time.

I pray this makes it to DVD.

I agree with everything said. I too was in tears at the end and when I read that Don never married and died last November. Truly Dolores made the right choice for herself and it couldn't have been easy. I liked how they interviewed some of the other novices as well. What a beautiful place the Monastary in MA is and all the nuns seem to be at peace.

I was also moved greatly by this film. I remember Dolores Hart from her films, she was then, and is now a beautiful woman. God Bless you Reverend Mother Dolores.

Such a beautiful way to talk about a beautiful film.

Agreed, and well said. I'm a professed athiest. When I stumbled across this short documentary, I was mesmerized. The story of Dolores Hart is one that needs to be told. As a non-religious person, I found myself very moved by her life story and deeply respectful of her life decisions and what her and her sisters do. There is such a purity of purpose and devotion to seeking real spirituality at the Abbey.

I don't see this purity and innocence in the actions of major organized World religions, Catholisism in particular. In fact, I see the opposite. I think this is what has turned so many away from organized religion in modern times.

If all major religions practised the kind of benevolent, selfless, pure spirituality and tolerance we see at the Abbey, then maybe religion would become a force for good in the world. As it stands now, the arrogance, intolerance, hypocrisy of many major World religious movements are the source of problems rather than the solutions.

Anyhow, this is a beautiful and inspiring piece, and I hope it reaches a large audience

I agree. This documentary was so good and the Abbey seemed so peaceful, that it made me want to be a nun too! It's crossed my mind...

I am the movies I love! (^_^)

This was unexpectedly moving. At first it was about what Dolores Hart "gave up" when she entered the abbey. By the end it was absolutely clear that she'd given up nothing.

I saw her interviewed a few years ago and the interviewer asked if she ever felt like leaving and she said something like "every day for the first twenty years."
