Sorry, but there is no hype here, clearly. Maybe because it is very difficult to find this title on imdb, I had to do 5 different searches to finally find it.
Waiting to see this film when it comes on bluray, I kinda hoped to see more anime series that continues the first season, with the same visual style, but I hear that they want to adapt entire manga to the films instead, so I'll take it with both hands.
Yes, I find it odd that this film was so hard to find here on IMDB. I typed in "Beserk movie" in Google and couldn't easily find this page here on IMDB.
I've never see all of Berserk or read the mangas, but I came across it by mistake while coming to IMDB to rank up the Spawn HBO TV series when I seen it in the recommended list. I did the unfortunate thing of clicking on it and seeing all the praise and then looking up the movie trailer on YouTube...of course, once you get to YouTube there are things there that you can't unsee and I seen Guts cutting off his own arm in a small thumbnail in the recommended video section of YouTube and nearly threw up.
Being the idiot that I am I clicked on the video and nearly threw up again but was horribly disturbed and intrigued to understand WTF I just seen. So I went to wiki and started reading up about the series and then watched the ending again and was even more disturbed to find out the things that happened to the characters happened in the way that they did.
So hopefully seeing the movie will placate that sense of disturbance and I can say to myself "Oh well, that makes sense and wasn't so bad."
As an aspiring filmmaker and a lover of Berserk i was so disappointed with the 2012 Berserk the Egg Of The King movie that i took the 1997 TV series and edited into a 2 hours and 35 minute movie (2012 movie is only 80 minutes). The egg of the king movie has no heart and no soul with no character development which is what makes Berserk the best manga.
