Couldn't Dolph just climb over that lamp post?

When they cuffed him to that lamp post I thought, oh, he's definitely gonna climb over that lamp post as soon as they're gone and free himself, but he even didn't try to do that! lol Why???

Short answer: He couldn't.

Long answer: When he awakes from the knock out he glances up a few times. There are only a few shots that display the top of the street light. The lamp itself protrudes out from the post but the post itself extended a few feet higher.

Yeah, I though he was gonna climb over the lamp, kill his now-zombie buddy, grab his weapons and go after Duke.

Much more impressive that he fought a bunch of zombies off with no weapon. If he wasn't so busy fighting zombies he likely would have time to cure cancer, create world peace and discover the meaning of life.
