What part ruined it for you?

For me, it was when Will started uploading himself into Clifton Collins' character. When he walked up and said "I can touch you now" I just cringed and couldn't get back into the movie after that. It was like a bad Christopher Nolan movie.

I was like, when Evelyn was shot, why doesn't WIll just take her to the Nano Hospital? He doesn't need to upload her. made a nonsense of the whole story.

And that final scene with the sunflowers, wtf?

I didn't understand that part of the movie either. So I sought out an answer and found it easily at Wikipedia. The bookending of the beginning of the film went over my head also.

He decides to save Max by uploading Evelyn.

Agreed with all three posts! Plot holes everywhere!

... and what of Depp's accent? First is some kind of Scott/ Brit thing then when he's assimilated into the internet he seems to have an American accent. Am I wrong????.... AM I WRONG!?!?

reply

Everyone speaks with an American accent on the internet. Don't you know?

reply

I made that exact same comment tonight when watching. They make that poor Irish guy speak with an American accent in the film, but the American actor is allowed to speak with a Transatlantic accent. Conundrum.

What ruined the film for me was the pesky humans......

I was rooting for the AI.

The movie was just very slow. It had good ideas, and the acting was excellent. I don't understand why critics hated the film so much. I think Peter Travers savaged it in a review. It's not incredible, but not terrible either.

For me it was the nano-stuff that can even be drifted in the air, and solar panels recreating themselves

I liked the movie though.

Clark: Jonathan Kent; isn't it a little past your bedtime?

The part where it ended and the screen went black, and I had to start it all over again to watch it and enjoy it a second time. :)

For me, it was when Evelyn's name wasn't changed to hide from the terrorists.

Couldn't do that though or they'd have never found them.

I'm not even a super AI and I know what a decoy is and would certainly have had that as well, by having another, less non threatening installation being built at the same time in another location, and of course in another country.

It's a movie, so I get it, but if this really happened humans would be like 5 million steps behind an AI like this film imagined.
