I agree it wasn't a great movie it felt incomplete, frustrating and too much anxiety. I think we've missed seeing movies that have to deal with relationships AFTER the romantic relationship is over.
We see ROM COM movies like when Harry Met Sally; we see movies about when a spouse dies like Terms of Endearment; we see movies when a relationship dies like Revolutionary Road.
But what about when the marriage is over but the relationship still continues, particularly when there are children. Or when one of the spouses needs support - financial, health, emotional assistance.
I like this quote from "I never sang for my father": Death ends a life but it does not end a relationship, which struggles on in the survivor?s mind toward some final resolution, some clear meaning, which it perhaps never finds.?
