That wasnt sex addiction

Its called cheating. So we're supposed to believe that her "addiction" lay dormant for years upon years and only surfaced after a sexy guy flirts with her. Give me a break. The excitement came from new penis. There was nothing unusual or unordinary about the sex she had with her boy toys. She even admitted to possibly wanting to be with Quinton in a relationship. She was just a bored wife.

I haven't seen this film yet... did the film actually say in dialog at some point that this woman is a sex addict?

Where does everyone get the idea she is a sex addict?

Just curious.

reply

Apparently from the title of the movie... and from the source material... and from her behavior... and...

reply

Well, if her behavior is that of a sex addict, then how is this not sex addiction?

There are other kinds of addictions is all I am sayin...

reply

She's treated for sex addiction, and many of her therapy sessions appear in the movie.

reply

Yup.

I saw the film in full now and I agree with other posters. While it's clear the authors of this film want you to think she's got an addiction... it's pretty clear this woman is just selfish and immature.

I can't believe she would be so stupid as to introduce two men she's having sex with to each other to terminate her involvements with both of them... man that was SO dumb.

reply

You've asked a question, I've answered it.
Can't claim I care one way or the other given that the movie was quite mediocre (haven't read the book nor am I planning to).

reply

she was definitely addicted. there are levels of addiction. the fact she was goin to sex parties as well as switching between her consistent boytoys and still wanting sex from her husband shows that. she couldnt even concentrate at work and was masterbating on her work desk...

reply

Sorry, just because people masturbate at work does not make them an addict.

If that were the case, every person in the porn industry is an addict, as is every prostitute.

Watch a film called Shame. THAT portrays sex addiction much better. Even Thanks for Sharing did a better job of portraying addiction.

This woman was making calm, deliberate, and conscious choices. She was not addicted, just selfish and stupid.

reply

Uh, ‘cause the movie’s title is Addicted.

reply

I agree, this character - at least how she was portrayed in the movie (I haven't read the book) - was not a sex addict. She was a bored wife with a boyfriend on the side. Then she temporarily broke up with that boyfriend and got another one. Once she made up with first boyfriend, she gave the other one the cold shoulder. Say huh?

A sex addict would have been screwing anyone willing - young, old, men, women, threesomes, orgies, the taken, the married, the single, the beautiful, the ugly, etc. without discretion. A sex addict wouldn't have thrown a fit about Quinton screwing his neighbor because a sex addict wouldn't have cared.

Saddled with unresolved trauma as she may have been, her husband had it right. She was selfish, not addicted. Her selfishness was even more compounded by the fact that she tried to kill herself rather than take responsibility.

reply

A female, masturbating to porn with a dildo, right after her husband has finished satisfying her. Attending sex clubs and having sexual intercourse with strangers. Continuing to screw some scumbag even after she catches him red handed screwing some slut. And seeing a psychiatrist because she is out of control. Sorry, but that IS called sex addiction. This woman was obviously sick. she wasn't merely "having an affair.."

You do have a point here except for the part that says "nothing unusual about the sex with her boy toys"
the fact that she is cheating is thrilling, also the bathroom sex with the other guy was thrilling too
that was the unusual thing that interested her in both of them, remember when she asked her husband to do her as the kids were asleep and he went up, she wanted the thrill more than the sex
we saw her with Jason the husband and she asked him for a third round, she couldn't get enough as it was ordinary sex and she was more after the thrill than the sex itself
anyway i think it was a bad movie and i didn't like it
Thanks for sharing was awesome on portraying Sex Addiction, wish there were movies done that good.

It is never about what happened, it is only how you look at it!

reply

Well said.

reply

Yeah, unfortunately the movie does not really portray her as addicted, only obsessed with having sex once a day or a few times a week with someone other than her husband, because he clearly did not fulfill her needs. It was cheating, plain and simple.
