A shatter in the wall of 'happy ending lovers' of Indian cinema.

After a long time I am compelled to write a review because of the work that Indian cinema showed.
But before I start, let me tell you that this film is not for everyone who are prone to happy ending Indian cinema and who believe that they are watching the film just for entertainment and if the ending is not happy, it is a crap. This is way different from this dilemma.
I had heard the songs before release and was not much into film, a friend of mine saw it just a few days ago and his remarks were that this is just a so-so shot and not worth watching thing. Eventually I also had figured in mind that this would be an average film and started watching the film with a hope that some directorial mistake or some plot hole would suddenly jump in front of me and I would shout “someone please turn off the tv”. But this didn’t happen and guess what almost at the ending I was in tears.
The ending of the film was quite understandable, as he waved her bye and song started and it was all evident what’s going to happen.
The one thing people might not understand as I was reading in some thread on discussion board that why didn’t he take help from rehab center, come on don’t become too realistic. This is movie world and let something remain fictional and let the beauty of the dramatization arise to peak. Why are you people so much used to happy ending or just too much societal friendly. I understand that this is normal for a 21st century kid but have a glimpse of life back in 90s, life wasn’t that computerized and people were more happy with it. There was essence of simplicity in life.
the mixed feelings of despair, dissolution, self-abduction, nausea and wrath of inner pride versus the love, betterment, care, emotions and above all the dedication was superbly shown. I am not a drama king, but there had been just very countable and few films which could make me really have tears. This was one of those films (putting besides the Bollywood and Hollywood borders).
If you love dramatization and want to see a good emotional flick, this one is surely worth watching.
Just one minor thing should have been added to the story, end the film where she got to know that he has died. It would have left everyone in trance. But this is solely my view, everyone might not agree with it.
With extremely warm and best wishes from Pakistan.

Have you ever heard of Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Dahek, Kites, Devdas, Anand, Mili, Namak Haram, Deewar etc.? The aforementioned movies are from various eras and all had sad endings. There's nothing new about this phenomenon. I remember when Fanaa released how media started going ga-ga about how sad endings are "in". It's just that media tries to inculcate people into believing into pseudo-trends as per their convenience (depending on how much they are paid by the honchos) — pure hogwash and just a way to manipulate masses. My point is, that there's nothing new about sad ending. All these tag-lines are just created by media.

Cheers.
