Marty's Plane...

Did anyone notice the History Channel blurred out the name of Marty's plane?

reply

Since reading your post, I watched the episode and yes, I noticed the blurred out name of his plane, which is "High Yella". I can't understand that, unless it was deemed necessary by someone other than who was in charge of such matters in earlier episodes. What difference does it make if we know the name? I thought perhaps they had to replace his plane with an identical one and knew the name change would confuse viewers (as if watching this show isn't confusing enough!).

So is Marty out of the show now that his season has ended? Or will he return to his trapping? My DVR cut off last night before all the previews of the next episode played. I didn't see anything about him.

I'm guessing they blurred it out because "high yella" or "high yellow" is a derogatory term for mixed race blacks dating back to the days of slavery. Someone probably called up the network and complained.

^^^Those are my thoughts as well. I picked up on that right from the start. I guess not too many people these days have read Roots.

I spotted the plane's name the first time they showed it and thought "Ha, I wonder how long this will last..."

Every one is a whiner ... the plane is yellow and it flies high, ergo high yella. True mixed people are called high yellows but it not like he named it jigg a boo

🤣 Yes I did notice that. I'm sure it's because of race, I'm considered "High Yella" and my friends cal me Yella or Yellow because of my race, I thought it was funny because it's not offensive to me, as big as I am no one else would really consider calling me it or using it in a negative way around me. I personally think it's funny!
