who is the woman listed in the In Memory of Credit?

She is Muriel Hennig, mother of Brad Hennig who wrote the script for this movie. She was a writer who died in 1982 and Brad is just being a nice son to remember her. They are from Texas, maybe his mother somehow was his inspiration for this movie which of course is set in Texas (although filmed in Louisiana). Or maybe just his inspiration to become a writer himself.

You can see her grave marker at the link below. (Click on 'photos' to see it more clearly.) She is buried in their hometown of Aspermont, Texas, which is a little town literally in the middle of nowhere, about 50 miles north of Abilene, Texas.
