You might be wrong coz nearly 8k fb users hit 'like' so another 4k votes in IMDb is quite original & possible...
But due to controversy it might led to have that high average in rating, whatever the movie was really good.

I think you haven't checked the user rating report for the movie. It's very clear.. 2.6k votes from non US users, around 400 from US users, that's 3k total votes. Where did the additional 8k votes come from? it's a mystery.

Again you are wrong coz it won't work like that, may be we won't understand theirs calculation and all. For more, to clear your doubts you can check other average rated unpopular movie's user rating report. I've checked, non of these makes sense, welcome to real IMDb...

It doesn't matter where or whom vote. It does count the votes from the IMDB's regular voters for the Ranking. Here, more than 70% votes are probably first time (fans) or non-regular voters. The film wouldn't be listed in Top 250 even if it has 10/10 with more than 100K votes. There is a logic behind IMDB's regular voters. No one knows that.

I think the votes take "Country of Residence" from ur imdb profile which we all create. If we keep the "Country of Residence" field as empty then it wont show in both US voters and Non-US voters list. Thats what i think.

There's really something wrong with the voting AND reviewing system for this movie, particularly. I happened to go through some reviews and it seems the words of each review are same and are only jumbled. The fanboy is a die hard!

11,000+ votes for 10/10 rating seems fishy, other ratings are less then 700!

Its not just one fanboy. They have forums. All the members are encouraged to give the movie the highest rating. Usually Desi movies suffer this kind of vandalism.

who are they? - you really want to know?
why? - this is even easier.

Guys at this happy moment i think its very important to keep and eye on the IMDB status of Vishwaroopam, because getting into the IMDB TOP 250 is heavy mileage for Kamal sir's future films and also could be a huge marketing for the 2nd part of VR also...Hence i would like to pour in your views on how to comeplte the below tasks in IMDB..

Current Status - Ratings: 9.8/10 from 10,103 users

1) First we need to pool in some money and create an account so that we can first create a profile picture, give a very professional write up in the summary etc. I think it requires 10$ or so to do it. One of us can take the lead and once the best write up,profile pic etc is decided that person can make the changes in IMDB

2) The requirement to get into TOP 250 is 50,000 votes. All of you can pour in your views on how to it to that number. Also 50,000 is not the limit, the more votes we get the more better the rating's value would be

If there is anything i missed out, u guys can share the same. However, request all guys to support and make it big in IMDB!!

You are right. Fake records for a flop movie. There are 10,544 fake votes based on gender, 10,546 fake votes based on age and 10,544 fake votes based on country.

Taran Adarsh affirmed that the film has failed netting just over $2 million from 1,000-odd screens in north India while the budget is some $17 million.

I bet the goal of the sockpuppets (Kamal Haasan fans or Raj Kamal Films' employees) is to reach 25,000 votes. Then they could boast that Vishwaroopam has reached Top 250 all-time charts !

It also means, thousands of fake email accounts have been created just for getting the user "verified". It is high time IMDB introduced mobile phone number checks to weed out inconsistencies in ratings. Else, IMDB may end up like Wikipedia - a fascist den of controversy theories.

Is there any way to report abuse ?

It has reached 20,000 votes already and it doesn't even have a poster in IMDb yet! lol.. It won't be long before it hits 25k and displaces a better movie in top 250, that's sad.

Its not actually 9.5, the real rating is 7.6 which You can't see because IMDb is sort of hiding it..even if it crosses 25000, its unlikely to make the Top10..

IMDb claims it employs special methods to stop what they call 'vote stuffing'.

Most of the Indian movies in Imdb have a higher rating than they deserve. That could be because of 1.2 billion population of India and English as their official language. This makes India the largest population which speak English as (one of their) native languages. Although I think there are really well made films out of Bollywood, most of Indian films deserve at lest -1 to -2 rating than they have in Imdb.

A movie can't make it into top 250 if doesn't get more than 25.000 votes from "Regular Voters"

This means "vote stuffing" does not work if you want to see your film in Top 250. In my opinion, only votes from "regular voters" should be counted for all movies, regardless they are in top 250 or not. This could make a fairer rating for the films which are not in top 250.

Looks like all the votes were removed..hahahaha...IMDb realised this film would make it to Number 1 in the Top250 list and they did not want that..

yes u can go to the ratings here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2199711/ratings) but since it doesn't show on the Main page, its not really counted so even though its rated 9.4, it won;t make the IMDb Top 250

Sorry, but I don't see how the votes are not counted. Both the title and ratings page show 9.4 with 24,000+ votes!

Do you mean since that it didn't show up in TOP250, that those votes are discredited anyway? That would be good news.

yep. i listed this title on a board frequented by admins and the next thing i know, they removed its ratings from the main page which very much "disqualifies" it from the IMDb Top250 list :)

Just saw the movie... its no where close to 9/10
I love old kamal hasan's movies ... new movies are complete trash!
This movie was meh.
Its just made for fans.
I would give it 6 or 7.
