Thankfully Emily Watson is excellent here...

She plays the role of Freya Hoynes in a marvelous way. She is a brilliant actress. At times seemingly invincible, at others pathetically vulnerable. Watson´s ability to deliver a quality performance in a character portrayal is amazing and outstanding. Wonderfully Acted.
